Caltrain have a heart
I was riding the caltrain home tonight and there were two of us sitting on the ground in the bike car because of a lack of seats. Two stops in, a little kid in an oversized Giants jersey came down the steps to say, “hey guys a few people got off the train and there are some open seats upstairs if you want to grab a seat.”
I want to be more like that kid.

Jazz improv piano
I signed up for some jazz improv piano classes at Stanford and was quickly humbled when I sat down in my group lesson beside a 11 year old with a bowl-cut. A bowl-cut, perfect pitch and an honest feel for jazz.
I thought I’d be safe in the “intermediate” class but when they started throwing around B flat augmented seventh’s with flatted 9ths and sharped 13ths, and...

We like
We like to talk
We like to talk about what we’re going to start
What it will be
Directions it will spiral
And all of that is why we like to talk
Because above all
We like to waste time

Boston Marathon - Raising Money (gulp)
On April 19th I’ll be running the best race in the world - the Boston Marathon. While doing so I’ll be benefiting the Brookline Community Mental Health Center, an out-patient mental health facility located steps away from the Boston Marathon’s 23rd Mile Marker.
I have two goals for the coming event - raise $3,000 for the Brookline Community Mental Health Center and run a time of sub 2:40. ...

Engagement - Serve Your Customers
I’m enjoying my first in-flight wi-fi experience on a Virgin America NY to SF flight and reflecting on some of the thoughts from the EngageExpo I just attended.
First off Disney gets it. The magic all started with a mouse but today there’s a collection of booming virtual worlds that are based on a highly profitable subscription model. Lane Merrifield the founder of Club Penguin and...
Be Remebered
Do you want to be remembered for what you did, or the lives you affected? Ideally both. Ideally your love and relationships were so powerful that they manifested in physical successes that remind a world without you, that you once stood with purpose and value. But for those who put others first the rest of life follows.

Ideas Vs Execution
To me, ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier.
Execution is worth millions.
Explanation:
Awful idea = -1
Weak idea = 1
So-so idea = 5
Good idea = 10
Great idea = 15
Brilliant idea = 20
No execution = $1
Weak execution = $1000
So-so execution = $10,000
Good execution = $100,000
Great execution = $1,000,000
Brilliant execution = $10,000,000

Congrats to Senator Brown
In Massachusetts, Democrats outnumber Republicans 3-1, but 51% of voters are unaffiliated (got to love that New England independence). Congrats to Senator Brown on an intelligent, passionate campaign that focused on what the Bay State needs. Rather impressive. The “guy who drives a truck” was a nice cover but I think we’ll see a lot more out of Scott Brown on Capitol Hill.
